Spring Break is upon us! Are you looking for things to do with your children? I suggest going to the movies. There is just something about heading to the local theater and grabbing a tub full of hot buttery popcorn and a big soda that makes for fun memories. Right now you can check out the adorable garden gnomes on the big screen as they take on London!
How many of you own garden gnomes? When I was growing up we had quite a few little friends throughout the yard. I remember playing for hours outside and creating adventures with my little ceramic friends. When I grew up and got my own place, we bought our own little friend featured above. His name is Buddy, and just as I did, my kids enjoy playing with him.
I love that I get to share my love for gnomes with my kids, and I love it, even more, when the films provide me with an outlet to talk to them. Finding a film that has a message that falls in line with our family values is sometimes hard to come by, but that is not the case with Sherlock Gnomes. This film is all about how you shouldn’t take your loved ones for granted. Throughout the film, we witness how the stars, Juliet and Sherlock Gnomes, let their jobs take center stage in their lives. As the film progresses, the stars realize what really matters in life. We are stronger when we work together. Not only is this a good lesson for our little ones to learn, but also it is a great reminder for us as parents about how we let our jobs overshadow our families. Having Buddy right outside our front door is going to help us keep our focus on what is important, our family!
Sherlock Gnomes offers so much more to moviegoers than just the theme. The music is fun and energetic! The iconic Elton John, who is the executive producer of Sherlock Gnomes, delights audiences with his classics. You just can’t help but dance in your seats! Slapstick humor abounds in this film as well. From a gnome on a toilet to crazy sayings like “cheese and crackers,” this film will make you laugh and even shed a few tears! You’ll even catch a few subtle Sherlock connections like the Hound of Bakersville.
If you are heading to the theaters to see this film, I suggest seeing it in 3D. The special effects were very cool and even realistic. Geared for elementary aged students, Sherlock Gnomes does not disappoint!
