I have fond memories of my childhood. Everything from after-school television to the books I read, my childhood is full of rich memories. One of my favorites has to be the books I read featuring Nancy Drew. A role model for many young girls, this charismatic teenager and her group of friends worked together to take on the evil in River Heights! Even when adults laughed at her, she stood her ground and seemed to always get to the bottom of things!
As a teacher, I love it when kids come to me asking for book suggestions. There is no greater satisfaction for me than to see a kid become engulfed in a book one that I recommended. Plus, I love it when we get to engage in book talks. I do not know about you but when I get into a good book, I long to share my affection for it with others. It is especially heartwarming when I can turn a girl into a book series that not only gets them into reading but also empowers them, and Nancy Drew is one of those series that girls really need to read!
Not only do people get to enjoy the series of books that have delighted fans for ages, but now we get to see her come alive on the big screen once again! Coming to theaters March 15, the iconic mystery solving teenager from the classic Nancy Drew books is back with an all-new feature-length film that will keep you guessing until the very end! The clip from “Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase” above follows Nancy Drew and her friends teaming up to take down high school bully, Derrick.
About the Movie
After the death of his wife, Carson Drew decides to leave Chicago behind and make a fresh start with his daughter in River Heights. But for 16-year-old Nancy Drew, life in a small town is mighty dull. She longs for excitement, adventure, and the chance to make a difference. Nancy gets that opportunity when she is asked to help solve the ghostly activity at the Twin Elms mansion. Can she help explain the creaking footsteps, exploding lightbulbs and the ominous creature? Is it the handiwork of high-school bully Derek Barnes? Or is it possible that the ghost of original owner Malcolm Colfax is back for revenge? Recruiting her best friends George and Bess, along with local “mean girl” Helen, Nancy Drew is on the case!
Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase, is sure to excite a new generation of girls and boys alike.
