Come celebrate National Waffle Day with Waffle House at the Waffle House Museum! They’ll be hosting tours and giving out free waffle samples!

The Waffle House ® Museum is the site of the very first Waffle House ® restaurant. It opened back in 1955 after two neighbors, Joe Rogers, Sr. and Tom Forkner, decided Avondale Estates needed a 24-hour restaurant. Today, the chain they started has 1700 restaurants in 25 states. The restaurant has been restored to feel as though you are stepping back into 1955. In addition to the restaurant, the museum features Waffle House memorabilia from the past 60 years.

Wednesday, August 28

Calling all Monster Jam fans! On Wednesday, August 28, the community will have the opportunity to meet Monster Jam driver Krysten Anderson at Mall of Georgia. The first-ever female driver of Grave Digger will sign autographs, take photos and interact with fans from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the lower level Center Court in the Southeast’s largest shopping center. Anderson will return alongside her family of drivers for Monster Jam Triple Threat at Infinite Energy Arena from September 13-15.

Ashley Park Newnan

Make plans to attend Fido Fest 2019 on Saturday, September 14 at Ashley Park. There will be a Doggie Splash Zone, live music, kids activities, food, vendors and more!   It will be The Ultimutt Event!

Imaginary Worlds-Alice’s Wonderland at Atlanta Botanical Gardens May 11 – Oct. 27, 2019.

Follow Alice down the rabbit hole with new creations in the Skyline Garden and more.

The exhibition of giant topiary-like plant sculptures at both the Midtown and Gainesville gardens, is back by popular demand after last summer’s blockbuster show, Imaginary Worlds: Once Upon a Time. Many of last year’s crowd-favorite sculptures will make a comeback – but donning coats of different plant palettes.

Center for Puppetry Arts

Over a dozen animal puppets and two farmhand-puppeteers will take the stage at the Center for Puppetry Arts during Old MacDonald’s Farm, July 30 – September 1. The Theater for the Very Young production is adapted and directed by award-winning director Amy Sweeney and is created specifically with the developmental stages of young children in mind. Based on the universally well-known children’s song, the family-favorite show explores a day in the life of a farm.


College Football Hall of Fame

College Football is turning 150 and getting the best birthday present ever! Don’t miss your chance to visit the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame and check out our incredible fan experience for free in August, courtesy of Chick-fil-A and Coca-Cola.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History

Fernbank’s newest permanent exhibit, Fantastic Forces explores combustion, aerodynamics, plate tectonics and more in this all-new STEM exhibit. Activities highlight the science of rockets, tornadoes, earthquakes, liquefaction, lightning, planetary orbits, gravity, centripetal force and more. Build a wax volcano, witness the power of a tornado, launch aircraft and more in this new hands-on, minds-on exhibit.

In its first-ever U.S. tour, the beloved MY LITTLE PONY: Friendship is Magic characters will take the stage in their all new musical debut, MY LITTLE PONY LIVE.  Inspired by the brand’s signature themes of friendship and magic, the original production features popular pony friends affectionately called, “the Mane Six” – Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Fluttershy, Applejack and Rainbow Dash.  Rounding out the lineup is Spike the Dragon, a fan favorite from the hugely successful MY LITTLE PONY: Friendship is Magic television series, which is currently airing its ninth season.

The fantastical, sensation-filled musical tells an exciting new tale.  As the ponies prepare for the blossoming of Ponyville’s Rainbow Tree, promising another hundred years of friendship, trouble arises in Equestria.  The Mane Six must set out to save the ailing Rainbow Tree with strength, determination, creativity and — of course — the magic of friendship!  Come one pony, come all, on this unforgettable journey to Equestria!

Free Entrance Days in the National Parks

Come experience the national parks! On five days in 2019, all National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone. Mark your calendar for these entrance free–fee dates in 2019:

On Second Sundays of each month at The High Museum of Art, museum admission is free from noon until 5:00 p.m. Most often there are special activities that are family-friendly and appeal to kids and grownups alike.

Smithsonian-Museum-DaySmithsonian Museum Day

Museum Day is an annual celebration of boundless curiosity hosted by Smithsonian magazine. Participating museums and cultural institutions across the country provide free entry to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket. The Museum Day ticket provides free admission for two people on Saturday, September 21, 2019.
