Disclosure: I was provided a 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage GT subcompact vehicle to test drive and review for a week. All opinions expressed are my own and were not influenced by Mitsubishi.
Recently I was provided with a unique opportunity to review the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage GT. Why do I say this was unique? First, you have to understand that I have always driven sedan sized cars. With a family and a busy lifestyle, I have to have a vehicle that can take me and my family wherever we need to go. Right now I am sporting a mini van. When I was presented with the opportunity to check out a subcompact vehicle, I was a little nervous in doing so. I looked at the pictures of the vehicle while I waited for my turn to check it out, and I found myself thinking, “How am I going to do this? It’s so small!” But readers, I am so happy to tell you that I actually fell in love with this car and was sad the day it was picked up! Seriously!
If you think subcompact vehicles aren’t worth the money or that they aren’t roomy enough, I am here to dispel that rumor! Here are my top 5 reasons why this would make a perfect car for not just first-time drivers or even empty nesters, this is one car that can satisfy a variety of people.
From first glance, this beautiful wine red subcompact car may look small to you. I mean really small. I thought that as well. But once you get inside, you discover the room that is available. This car can definitely seat four people, maybe even five. We even put it to the test to see if our car seat would fit. As you can see for yourself, it fits in perfectly with room to spare.
Got to get groceries or need to transport bigger items?
The Mirage is equipped with a 60/40 split-folding and reclining high-back rear seats. This vehicle can accommodate the typical things a person might transport day to day.

7-year or 100,000-mile anti-corrosion/perforation limited warranty
Transferable 5-year or 60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty
5-year/unlimited miles roadside assistance program
One of the great things about this vehicle is that it is affordable. Often times people find themselves in situations where they need a reliable and affordable car. Truth is, that is hard to come by! For what you pay, there are many great benefits.

Equipped with an automatic economy setting, this 3-cylinder engine really has an impressive fuel economy. In town, drivers get an estimated 37 mpg and 43 mpg on the freeway.
Small and Powerful
So here I am capitalizing on that word small again for the Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback, but this time I am using it in a positive way. Have you ever heard that expression “It turns on a dime?” One of the biggest perks to having a subcompact vehicle is its ability to fit into tight or small spaces. I don’t know about you, but I have found myself in situations where I need to find a parking spot but my car is just too big. I know this hatchback would have been PERFECT for me when I was attending Valdosta State University in my college years! Working in the city or attending class, this vehicle easily fits into parallel sparking spaces or tight spots. As you can see from the image above, it does not take up much room at all.
While this vehicle has a 3 cylinder engine, don’t be mistaken at how powerful the Mirage can be. It allows drivers to zip in and out of traffic with ease.
The 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage GT hatchback rides smooth and provides great gas mileage. With plenty of room, this vehicle is perfect for the first time driver or the college bound student. It is even great for empty nesters or small families that want something economical and fun.
