Find New Roads in the Chevrolet Traverse

Disclosure:  Chevrolet provided a Chevy Traverse to experience for a week. All opinions are our own.

Experiences have a funny way of showing us what life is about.  Whether it is getting married or having children, each precious moment reveals just how meaningful life is.  A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to create new moments to cherish with loved ones as we took off in the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse High Country AWD. This roomy 8 passenger midsize SUV is a family car worth finding new roads in!

First and foremost, the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse High Country AWD has so much room!  Seriously, I was completely shocked at the mere capacity of this beauty. Boasting a whopping a  98.2 cubic feet of cargo space, you’ll discover that there is plenty of room for everyone.

Plus,  getting people in and out of the third row is easy thanks to the Enhanced Smart Slide Seating. Simply slide the seat up to allow people to easily step up and into the third row seating.  No more trying to maneuver around seat belts and being a gymnast just to to get into the back! What makes this feature even sweeter is that forward facing car seats do not have to be removed when letting people in the third row seating.

Taking off on road trips is apart of life, and traveling with family can sometimes be tiresome when you got to listen to “Are we there yet?” over and over.  The Chevy Traverse allows you to enjoy the journey thanks to the all the ways it helps keep the family entertained.  The MyLink infotainment system features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and can even function as a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot. Imagine how much sweeter your road trip is going to be when you can connect up to seven devices.  There is even a standard electrical outlet available! It’s like having a mobile living room.

Of course, the performance of the 2018 Traverse is something to smile at as well.  No matter the driving condition, you will feel confident behind the wheel. The High Country AWD has a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque.  The EPA estimated fuel economy is 18 city/27 highway. Believe it or not, we were able to get over 400 miles on one tank of gas as we explored the Georgia coastline.

Sleek and sharp, this Cajun Red 2018 Chevrolet Traverse High Country AWD is definitely something that makes people take notice. Not just for its sophisticated design, but also for it’s safety features. Featuring Rear Park Assist, Forward Collision Alert, Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking, and Lane Keep Assist, you can feel at ease when traveling with your most precious cargo-your family!

The Rear Camera Mirror is something that is incredibly stunning!  With two cameras, drivers are given a crystal clear image so you can confidently park or change lanes.

Chevrolet had the family in mind with their Traverse.  Yet another reason to fall in love with this company is their Teen Driver Technology.  Imagine being able to get a report card from your CAR on how well of a driver your teen really is!  This feature alone makes the midsize SUV worth every penny. Having the ability to set speed and volume limits gives parents an added sense of security.

For years I have just lived going through the motions day after day as life slowly ticked by me.   Little did I know that my life would be forever changed two years ago when I was in a head-on collision.  That fateful day in July forever changed how I would interact with those around me. No longer would I just go through the motions day after day and take another for granted.  Life could change in the blink of an eye, and I realized just how precious my life experiences really were.

First Responders in Uniform Image by Tom Grill/Corbis

Life is meant to lived!  Yes, it may be obvious that is what we are supposed to do – live!  But I want to challenge you to live your life with intention. Make the most of those experiences and show kindness to those along the way for the moments you share.  I am forever grateful for the team of first responders that were there to ensure that I would live to see another day, and that is something I do not take lightly! You were that calm voice amongst the chaos that was whispering to me that everything is going to be okay. Thank you for being the difference between life and death for me.

First responders put their lives on the line to protect us day after day. I can’t help by admire the compassion and selflessness of these individuals.  They work long shifts away from family and friends, and have to deal with the stress that comes with being the first source of help to those in need. They are true public servants with a calling to do something bigger than themselves, regardless of the sacrifice. Their hard work and bravery is something that should not go unnoticed.

And that is why I love Chevrolet even more than I already do!  Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and OnStar have launched a new program designed to recognize the bravery, dedication and resolve of America’s first responders.

As the proud owners of a 65 and 85 Chevrolet pickup trucks, we love that we invested in a company that focuses on giving back and supporting our first responders and military.  Sleek and sporty, this midsize SUV AWD edition proved to be another reason to love this all American brand! The Traverse makes driving safer and more comfortable thanks to the enhanced technologies, and as someone that has become even more of cautious driver since my wreck, the Onstar services exceeded my expectations!  For more information about OnStar services and features, visit
