Tennessee Aquarium

Teacher Appreciation Day

January 25, 2020

Teachers enjoy free admission on Teacher Appreciation Day! No registration required.
This offer is good for one teacher and one guest.

Teachers will have an opportunity to see first-hand what we offer to school groups by visiting the Tennessee Aquarium and IMAX 3D Theater. Throughout the day, our education staff will be available to show teachers how the Tennessee Aquarium and IMAX Theater can serve as an extension to the classroom.

Educators must provide a current teacher ID or pay stub at check-in to receive admission.
Admission includes one IMAX movie. Film entry is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Additional guest tickets may be purchased at the discounted rates listed below. There is no charge for children under 3 years old.

  • Children (3-18): $14 Aquarium + IMAX
  • Adults: $36.50 Aquarium + IMAX

Teacher Appreciation Weekend

Jan. 18, 19 and 20

Their annual Teacher Appreciation Weekend this coming MLK weekend, Jan. 18, 19 and 20, with teachers and one guest receiving free admission all weekend. Teachers will need to present their educator identification, and homeschool teachers should provide documentation of their umbrella organization. The free admission applies to all educators, preservice and active, at all grade levels – daycare through graduate level.

You’ll will also be able to get information about other educator opportunities they offer as well as swag bags for teachers.

Speaking of opportunities, are you familiar with their Space Camp for Educators? It’s a six-day, immersive program that is so much fun for teachers and gives hands-on activities for their classrooms along with up to 35 hours of continuing education credits. Atlanta Science Festival

March  6-21, 2020

The annual two-week Atlanta Science Festival celebrates local science and technology every March, featuring more than 100 events throughout metro Atlanta and reaching 50,000 children and adults annually. Festival events feature hands-on activities, tours, tastings, and performances from more than 100 community partners, including school districts, post-secondary institutions, museums, businesses, civic and community groups. The Festival ends with the explosive Exploration Expo, Atlanta’s biggest interactive family science event, with hundreds of hands-on activities in a free carnival of science! Our evaluation data show that the racial/ethnic diversity among Festival attendees closely matches that of the metro Atlanta region, and that our Festival is reaching a wide variety of ages, with 50% of attendees aged 25-44 (no one under 14 years old completed a survey). Zoo Atlanta

Educator Appreciation Day

March 14, 2020   9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Join Zoo Atlanta for the 2020 Spring Educator Appreciation Day! Educators enjoy free admission and discounts for accompanying guests on March 14, 2020.

The discount applies to active and retired teachers; local and out-of-state educators; homeschool parents; informal educators; and administrative support staff, along with active Georgia PTA members. Educators must present a valid educator ID or relevant documentation and a photo ID to take advantage of these discounts.

Family members and guests accompanying educators will enjoy $2 off general admission on the day of the event. In addition, educators receive 10% off food at Nourish Café and gift shop purchases. Educators are encouraged to visit our variety of educational booths throughout the Zoo from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to meet the Zoo team and learn more about our educational programming and professional learning.

Teacher Appreciation Weekend

The Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame celebrates educators during Teacher Appreciation Weekend. Teachers will receive free admission with valid ID and friends and family members accompanying educators will receive 20% off admission at the box office.

For teachers interested in future field trips, The Hall offers a free S.T.E.A.M. based curricula program called “T.E.A.M.S.” that combines Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics and Science.

Atlanta Botanical Gardens

Educator Day

Enjoy a free day of exploration in the Garden, and discover why the Garden is a fabulous place to bring students and have fun. Marvel at the beautiful summer blooms, stroll the Kendeda Canopy Walk, listen to frog calls in the Fuqua Conservatory, watch a cooking demonstration in the Outdoor Kitchen and more.

Reservations are not required. Educators and one guest receive free admission to the Garden on this day only. To gain free admission, present a current school ID, verification of educator status or homeschool declaration of intent AND a state-issued ID at Garden Admissions. Parking not included.

Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, and Center for Civil and Human Rights

Educator Open House

Typically held in August from 8 to 11 am (Will update date and registration link as soon as it is available)

Every August there is an Educator Open House for the World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium and Center for Civil and Human Rights.  These attractions invite local educators, including homeschool teachers, to visit the attractions for free to learn about educational and field trip opportunities.

Attending educators visit the attractions from 8-11 a.m. and may bring one guest, also free of charge. (They may purchase tickets for additional guests.) Pre-registration is required, so interested educators can register at https://www.georgiaaquarium.org/educator-open-house/  when it opens up again for 2020.

A valid teacher ID is required for entry to the event, and homeschool teachers may bring a copy of their Letter of Intent.

High Museum of Art

Teacher Appreciation Day

The High Museum is pleased to offer free days throughout the year for educators and their guests to preview upcoming special exhibitions while learning more about the programs and resources they offer teachers.

Teacher Appreciation Days are their way of saying “thank you!” to school and community educators. Educators and one guest receive free admission.
