Living a Full Life connects and empowers families and friends to live life to the fullest

Brave Your Adventure with Kids Obstacle Challenge

Teaching and modeling to our kids the value of fitness is something that families should strive to do, but getting them to WANT to do it can be even harder when the average attention span is eight seconds!  Technology provides humans with that instant gratification.  Even though we know there is life beyond the screen, pulling ourselves and our kids away from the temptation of a device can be so hard.  Even though we KNOW we need that physical fitness in our lives to keep our bodies healthy, how do we get our kids to buy in?  How do we get our kids to WANT to run?  WANT to walk?  WANT to get physically fit?

As a teacher, I know when I make my lessons fun, they are more likely to engage!  As role models, we have to show them that it is fun!    If we make it look like some laborious activity that we dread doing, we are not going to win them over.   They need to see us live in the moment and enjoy it.  They have to see that it brings true happiness!

Here are some easy ways to make it fitness fun at home.

Set up an obstacle course in your backyard or at a playground

Plan a Scavenger Hunt Run

Plan a nighttime run in PJs or a flashlight run.

Play some simple games Red Light, Green Light, Simon Says, Capture the Flag, Sharks & Minnows

Parents, the fact is we HAVE to get off the sidelines!  If we are going to get them to embrace it, we got to be right there doing it with them.  One of the easiest ways to do this is by signing up for runs or walks being hosted in your area.   The Kids Obstacle Challenge is a fun family adventure where you can run the 1.5-2 mile obstacle course with your kids for FREE!  Kids Obstacle Challenge is an adventure and obstacle course race series for kids ages 5-16, with 12-15 fun and challenging obstacles and mud.

Imagine the fun you are going to have with your kids traversing rock walls, army crawling through mud pits, rope swinging over water, scaling up rugged cargo nets, dodging floating cannonballs, and more. Give your kids the chance to release their inner beast and push themselves, all while getting covered in mud! Prepare to Brave Your Adventure and have some family fun! Right now you can save 15% using the promo code ATLANTAADVENTURE15.

One of the goals of Kids Obstacle Challenge (KOC) is to help create family bonds and give families a chance to overcome obstacles together.  As a mother, I love it when a companies goal aligns with my very own.  Life is full of challenges, and how we go about handling those is watched by our children whether we realize it or not. Our kids are only with a short time.  We need to seize the opportunity we have to create memories that will last a lifetime.  I can’t think of a better gift to give my children than the gift of fitness.  If we help our children fall in love with fitness with they are young, we are helping them to place value on something that will benefit them in the long run.
