Looking for the hot toys of the season? Walmart is the place to go for the 2018 top 10 holiday toys. With a wide selection of toys, you are bound to find that gift that makes you Parent of the Year in your child’s eye!
Recently I had the chance to interview Tina Vanalstine from the Walmart Midway Alpharetta. I wanted the scoop on how Walmart determines just what will make the top toys each year and how they prepare for the holiday season.
Walmart begins preparations for America’s Best Toy Shop: The destination for kids’ favorite products – toys! – in its stores and on http://Walmart.com early in the year. They expand the aisles in select stores with a selection of thousands of new and exclusive toys and plan in-store events and demos as well as creating a new toy experience online. As the season approached, they started 90, 60 and 30 day planning to ensure everyone was ready to go for their peak shopping season. As they got closer to this week, they increased their preparations to guarantee everyone was ready to be in place when they open the doors for Black Friday.
Walmart even used virtual reality headsets to train employees on “real-world” situations they may run into, such as assisting Black Friday shoppers. The VR modules include lessons on soft skills (like customer service), new technology and compliance. This approach allows every associate to experience consistent, engaging training and learn in a low-pressure environment.
Walmart also prepared their associates to add an additional layer of convenience to the in-store experience with the Check Out With Me feature that was available in all Walmart Supercenters by Black Friday. Associates were positioned in the busiest areas of their stores, like the garden center, electronics or in action alley, so customers could bypass regular checkout lines and pay for their items right in the department they are shopping.
So how does Walmart test these products with consumers to know which ones will be the most sought-after items this holiday season? That is a great question and one I just had to ask. According to Tina, Walmart engaged hundreds of youngsters to test and play with dozens of toys. Their favorites resulted in Walmart’s Top Rated by Kids list. Up from 25 toys in previous years, this list of 40 toys will help guide parents on the “it” toys kids are wishing for. Customers can shop for Top Rated by Kids toys in stores and online by visiting Walmart’s brand new Top Rated by Kids shopping experience here.
So we decided to take a look at Walmart’s list of the top 40 toys rated by kids, and we came up with what we think are the 2018 Top 10 holiday toys.
