Bringing Fresh Fruits to the Table with Grub Market & a giveaway

California Fruit Bounty

My family has made a decision to eat better this year, and one way to achieve this is be eating fresh fruits and vegetables.  Now there is an easy way to make sure you are getting in your fruits thanks to GrubMarket.  GrubMarket is a subscription service that send fresh, organic fruit right to your door and at a great price!

GrubMarket is an easy-to-use online marketplace for local food in fresh quality with affordable prices.  Their mission is to conveniently make fresh & healthy food accessible to everyone.  Basically, it is an online farmers’ market!!!

We received their regular-size California Fruit Bounty box.  This box was filled with a seasonal harvest of organic fruit grown in California such as apples, pears, oranges, pineapples, dates, pomegranate, and an avocado.

During the summer, this box offers the best of summer fruits, including peaches, apricots, cherries, and plums.  During the fall & winter, this box offers a mix of citrus, pears, apples, and more, all grown from the best California farms.

We decided to make one of my husband’s favorite fruit desserts, Ambrosia.   We tweaked our recipe just a bit to fit the fresh fruit that we revived in our Grub Market box.

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 tablespoon sugar

4 ounces sour cream

6 ounces mini marshmallows, approximately 3 cups

1 cup chopped fresh pineapple

2 pears, cut and cubed

3 apples of choice, cut and cubed

1 cup toasted, chopped pecans

1/2 cup drained maraschino cherries

Place the cream and sugar into the bowl of a stand mixer with the whisk attachment and whip until stiff peaks are formed. Add the sour cream and whisk to combine. Add the marshmallows, apples, pineapple, pears, pecans and cherries.  Fold to combine. Transfer to a glass serving bowl, cover and place in the refrigerator for 2 hours before serving.

About GrubMarket

GrubMarket is all about providing accessibility, by delivering the following key benefits to their stakeholders:

Unbeatable prices:  While many food delivery services and premium grocers cater to high-income earners, GrubMarket is committed to making fresh and delicious food accessible to all people by keeping their prices consistently lower than all comparable grocers.

Convenience:  Through their reliable operations, GrubMarket is committed to providing people in food deserts (ie. areas without farmers’ markets and fresh grocery stores) with access to high-quality, freshly-harvested items that they would typically find at a farmers’ market or Whole Foods store.  Additionally, they offer free delivery across the U.S. for all orders above $59.

Food Discovery:  GrubMarket provides a platform for their partnering small farms and vendors to sell their items directly to customers.  Many of these food producers have challenges getting shelf space at grocery stores, and/or may not want to pay the upfront costs of hosting farmers’ market tables.  GrubMarket gives these food producers access to tens of thousands of customers through a robust online marketplace, regardless of the food producers’ production scale.

GrubMarket firmly believes that you, your family, and your friends should always have the opportunity to eat well, and that price should never be a barrier between you and healthy, delicious, and freshly-harvested food.  They are committed to providing you with the best grocery experience possible, by regularly offering you wholesome foods at wholesale prices.  They work with a variety of farms and artisan producers to bring you high-quality foods and other items at prices that are up to 50% OFF what you’d typically find at Whole Foods and other grocers.

My readers can receive 20% off their first order by using code GRUB20 and free shipping on orders over $59.

I am not sure I can pick a favorite fruit because I have yet to meet a fruit I don’t like, but I will just say cherries. Cherries are pretty awesome. Fruit crumbles and cobblers are my fave desserts to make!
